Overview
A comprehensive collection of Susan Williams-Ellis's iconic 'Botanic Garden' pattern, featuring high-quality earthenware decorated with 19th-century botanical illustrations and the signature laurel leaf border. This set includes rare specialty items like the figural bird teapot and a deviled egg server alongside standard place settings.
Story
In 1972, Susan Williams-Ellis found a 19th-century botanical book and changed ceramics forever. She broke the rules by making every plate different, turning the dinner table into a lush, blooming English garden.
Maker / Origin
Susan Williams-Ellis, daughter of the architect who built the Italianate village of Portmeirion in Wales, co-founded the pottery in 1960. She was a visionary designer who believed that functional objects should be works of art, leading Portmeirion to become one of the most successful British potteries of the modern era.
Condition & Value
The pieces appear well-cared for with vibrant colors; however, the measuring cups show some interior staining. Crazing or chips on the delicate figural teapot would significantly impact the total set value. Excellent condition commands a premium.
