Overview
A vintage frosted glass tumbler featuring 'Hen-Tooh Wyandot' from the highly collectible 'Famous Oklahoma Indians' series. Designed by celebrated Muscogee Creek-Pawnee artist Acee Blue Eagle, this glass features vibrant, multi-color screen-printed graphics on a frosted 'sour cream' style glass body.
Story
In the 1950s, Oklahoma gas stations handed these out as promotional giveaways with a fill-up. Instead of cheap plastic, they distributed genuine works of art celebrating legendary Native American figures. This specific glass honors Hen-Toh, a prominent Wyandot leader and writer.
Maker / Origin
Acee Blue Eagle (1907–1959) was a towering figure in Native American art, helping to establish the Bacone School of Indian Art in Oklahoma. His elegant, flat-style paintings earned him international acclaim, including a solo exhibition in Paris and a lecture tour across Europe. These promotional tumblers brought his museum-quality illustrations directly into the homes of everyday Americans.
Condition & Value
The frosted finish appears remarkably clean with minimal scuffing, and the colored enamels remain vibrant and intact without the typical dishwasher fading. There is minor wear along the top rim, but the graphics are exceptionally well-preserved. Excellent condition overall, which commands a premium for mid-century glassware.
