Post-war travel boomed, and these tiny treasures became the ultimate portable memory. This thimble captures a fortress built by William the Conqueror in 1078, shrunk down to fit on a fingertip.
Maker / Origin
Sutherland China was a prominent name in the Staffordshire pottery district, specializing in 'heraldic' and souvenir ware. They were masters of the 'miniature' market, producing thousands of designs that allowed collectors to travel the world from their display cabinets.
Condition & Value
The thimble appears to be in excellent condition with no visible chips or cracks. The gold gilding on the base rim shows very little wear, suggesting it was a display piece rather than a functional tool. Pristine condition maintains its modest collectible value.
