Overview
This is a legendary 'Hi-Beat' manual-wind wristwatch, featuring the 5740C movement which was Seiko's first to achieve 36,000 vibrations per hour. It represents a pinnacle of Japanese mechanical engineering, designed to compete directly with the finest Swiss chronometers of the era.
Story
In 1967, Seiko released this mechanical marvel to prove they could out-engineer the world. Its heart beats ten times every single second, creating a sweep-second hand motion so smooth it looks like liquid gold flowing.
Maker / Origin
Seiko's Suwa division was locked in a friendly but fierce internal rivalry with the Daini division to produce the world's most accurate watch. This competition led to the 'Grammar of Design' and the birth of the Grand Seiko line, with the Lord Marvel serving as the high-frequency pioneer.
Condition & Value
The dial shows some honest 'sunburst' aging and minor spotting consistent with its 50-year history. There is visible wear on the gold-plated lugs and the crystal appears to have light surface scratches. These signs of use are common and generally accepted by vintage collectors.
