A finely enameled Chinese porcelain charger richly decorated in the Famille Verte (wucai) palette, illustrating a lively palace courtyard narrative featuring scholars, ladies, and a figure riding a goat-drawn cart. The underside features floral sprays and a six-character Kangxi underglaze blue mark inside a double ring.
Story
Centuries of storytelling converge on this porcelain surface, depicting the famous legend of Emperor Wu of Jin and his goat cart. Courtesans sprinkled salt outside their pavilions to lure the Emperor's cart to their doors.
Maker / Origin
Produced by master porcelain decorators in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. During the late 19th-century revival period, workshops extensively paid homage to the golden age of the Kangxi reign (1662–1722), recreating classic wucai palettes and iconography for domestic collectors and the international export market.
Condition & Value
Appears in very good condition with bright, well-preserved enamels; light kiln speckling and expected surface wear consistent with age. Excellent preservation supports top-end market value.
