Overview
A heavy, polished brass doll bed featuring intricate scrollwork and finials, originally released as part of Samantha Parkington's Victorian-era collection. This set includes the original mattress, lace-trimmed pillow, and the tufted white comforter with pink ribbon accents.
Story
Pleasant Rowland founded Pleasant Company in 1986 to give girls books and dolls with historical integrity. This bed was one of the first high-quality furniture pieces designed to transport children to 1904 New York.
Maker / Origin
Pleasant Company was the original creator of American Girl, known for museum-quality accessories before being sold to Mattel in 1998. Early 'Pre-Mattel' items like this are prized by collectors for their heavier materials and superior craftsmanship.
Condition & Value
The brass appears bright with minimal pitting, though there is slight surface dust. The bedding looks crisp, but the pink ribbons should be checked for fraying. Condition is generally very good, which maintains its collector appeal. Value depends heavily on the presence of the original bedding and the lack of tarnish on the brass.
