Overview
This is a striking mushroom-shaped table lamp featuring a cameo glass shade and base decorated with a pinecone and needle motif. It is designed in the iconic style of Émile Gallé, utilizing multi-layered glass that has been etched to reveal a warm, autumnal forest design.
Story
In the late 1900s, a massive revival of Art Nouveau swept the globe, prompting workshops in Eastern Europe and Asia to recreate the legendary cameo glass designs of Nancy, France, bringing 1900s Parisian glamour to modern homes.
Maker / Origin
Émile Gallé was the undisputed master of French Art Nouveau glass, famous for his 'poetry in glass' that drew inspiration from nature and botany. While this piece bears a 'Gallé' signature, it is a modern reproduction; the original Gallé factory closed its doors in 1936, making authentic lamps exceedingly rare and valuable.
Condition & Value
The lamp appears to be in good cosmetic condition with no visible cracks or major chips to the glass. The wiring appears modern, which is typical for a reproduction piece. Excellent condition with working wiring commands the higher end of the value range.
