Overview
A striking, large-scale table lamp featuring a leaded stained glass shade in the iconic Tiffany dragonfly pattern, supported by a sculpted bronze-tone metal base. The shade is adorned with vibrant red, amber, and blue glass cabochons that mimic glowing jewels, while the filigreed dragonfly wings drape elegantly over the lower rim.
Story
Clara Driscoll, head of the Tiffany Girls, designed the iconic dragonfly lamp in 1899. Her brilliant design saved Louis Comfort Tiffany's studio from financial ruin and won a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition.
Maker / Origin
While original Tiffany Studios lamps were handcrafted in New York under the direction of Louis Comfort Tiffany and Clara Driscoll, this piece is a high-quality contemporary tribute. Modern workshops continue to replicate these historic designs using the same copper foil technique pioneered in the late 19th century, keeping the Art Nouveau aesthetic alive for modern collectors.
Condition & Value
The lamp appears to be in excellent cosmetic condition with no visible cracks in the glass panels or missing cabochons. The bronze-tone finish on the base shows minimal wear. Excellent condition maintains the upper end of the estimated value range. Value is driven by the size, complexity of the glasswork, and the quality of the base.
