Overview
A pair of gold-tone metal and enamel cufflinks depicting the iconic Brutalist architecture of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library. They come housed in their original presentation box with an informational card detailing the building's design by architect Gordon Bunshaft.
Story
When the LBJ Library opened in 1971, it was a monumental architectural statement. These cufflinks allowed visitors to literally wear a piece of that bold, Brutalist skyline on their sleeves, celebrating a complex presidency.
Maker / Origin
While the exact manufacturer of these souvenir cufflinks is unrecorded, they were commissioned specifically for the LBJ Presidential Library's museum store. The design honors Gordon Bunshaft, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who designed the monolithic travertine library building.
Condition & Value
The cufflinks appear to be in excellent, unused condition with no visible chipping to the enamel or tarnishing to the metal. The original paper insert and box are present, though the box shows minor shelf wear. Excellent condition with original packaging commands the higher end of the value range.
