Overview
A charming mid-century California studio pottery vanity set consisting of a scalloped tabletop mirror and matching light switch plate. Both pieces feature hand-painted sepia and ochre floral motifs over an ivory glazed earthenware body, complete with original paper label on the mirror easel arm.
Story
Postwar California sparked a golden age of boutique pottery studios. Vee Jackson hand-painted these cozy floral fixtures to bring artisanal charm straight into mid-century American powder rooms.
Maker / Origin
Vee Jackson was a notable California ceramic artist active from the 1940s through the 1960s, operating her studio in Pasadena and later surrounding Southern California communities. She was celebrated for her delicate, feminine, hand-painted homewares ranging from vanity accessories and switch plates to decorative planters and figurines.
Condition & Value
Both ceramic frames show age-appropriate fine glaze crazing (typical for this clay body). The mirror easel arm is detached with mounting hardware included, and the back velvet shows minor weathering. No apparent chips or cracks on the ceramic bodies.
