Overview
This pale green glass bowl features iconic concentric rings inspired by ripples on water. Originally designed by pioneer Aino Aalto in 1932, this elegant ribbed motif became a landmark of Scandinavian functionalist glassware.
Story
In 1932, Finnish designer Aino Aalto threw a pebble into water and watched the concentric circles expand. That simple observation birthed the famous 'Bölgeblick' design, proving that everyday household items could be both functional and poetic.
Maker / Origin
Aino Aalto was a trailblazing Finnish architect and designer, often working alongside her husband, Alvar Aalto. Her glass series won gold at the 1936 Milan Triennale and became one of the longest-produced glass lines in history, establishing Iittala as a powerhouse of modern Scandinavian design.
Condition & Value
The glass appears clear with good luster and no obvious large cracks or major chips visible in the images. Minor surface scratching or base wear from age would be normal and could slightly adjust secondary market value.
