Purchased on September 8, 1980, this portable compressor was the ultimate peace-of-mind accessory for the great American road trip. It promised stranded motorists a quick way to inflate a flat tire or a beach mattress right from their dashboard.

The W. R. Brown Company was a legendary Chicago-based manufacturer famous for producing high-quality paint sprayers, compressors, and air brushes throughout the mid-to-late 20th century. Later operating as a division of Intermatic—a company still famous today for its heavy-duty timers—they brought industrial-grade engineering to consumer-level garage tools.

Condition & Value

The compressor and its accessories appear to be in excellent, lightly used condition with only minor peeling on the blue foil label. The paper documents are remarkably crisp with clear handwriting, and the red plastic carrying case is intact without cracks. Excellent working condition would command the top end of the range.
