Overview
A stunning pair of fine lead crystal candlesticks featuring Waterford's iconic 'Lismore' pattern, characterized by its brilliant diamond and wedge cuts. Standing on elegant hexagonal bases, these pieces showcase the incredible clarity and light-refracting properties that made Irish crystal world-famous.
Story
In 1952, designer Miroslav Havel created a pattern inspired by the gothic arches of Lismore Castle in County Waterford. It became the most famous crystal design in history, gracing the tables of heads of state and Hollywood royalty.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1783 by brothers George and William Penrose, Waterford set out to create the finest quality crystal in the world. Though the original factory closed in 1851, the brand was spectacularly revived in 1947 by Czech immigrant Charles Bacik and designer Miroslav Havel, who combined traditional Irish craftsmanship with modern European techniques.
Condition & Value
The candlesticks appear to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or cloudiness in the crystal. Excellent condition with no flea bites or wax residue preserves the maximum value of the pair. Value is driven by the enduring popularity of the Lismore pattern and the physical condition of the crystal.
