Overview
A charming pair of hand-painted ceramic miniature clogs representing two distinct Dutch pottery traditions. The larger piece features the vibrant, matte-finish floral style of Gouda, while the smaller displays the iconic blue-and-white windmill motif of Delftware.
Story
Dutch potters began making these 'klompen' miniatures in the 1800s as souvenirs for travelers. By the 1930s, they were global symbols of Dutch identity. These specific pieces survived the mid-century era as cherished tokens of European travel.
Maker / Origin
The Regina factory in Gouda was founded in 1898 and became world-famous for its 'Plateel' art pottery, often marked with a crown. The smaller piece comes from Schoonhoven, a city renowned for its silver and ceramics, specifically the 'Delfts Blauw' hand-painted tradition.
Condition & Value
The pieces appear to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible cracks or significant crazing. The glaze on the Regina clog remains bright and the hand-painted details are crisp. Excellent condition for these small, fragile items helps maintain their value. Gouda Regina pieces are more collectible than generic Delft souvenirs.
