Overview
This is a stunning ceramic 'Streamline' tilt teapot designed in a striking periwinkle blue glaze. Created as an exclusive promotional item for Westinghouse, its aerodynamic, horizontal silhouette is a textbook example of American Streamline Moderne industrial design.
Story
During the late 1930s, Westinghouse offered these futuristic teapots as a clever promotional gift to customers who purchased a new electric refrigerator. It was designed to sit perfectly on a refrigerator shelf to store cold water, or to serve hot tea on the table.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1903, the Hall China Company became world-renowned for developing a unique single-fire glazing process that made their ceramics lead-free, non-porous, and incredibly resistant to crazing and chipping. Their mid-century kitchenware collaborations with major appliance brands are now legendary among design collectors.
Condition & Value
The teapot appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or heavy staining on the exterior or the lid. The glaze retains its original high-gloss luster, and the maker's mark on the base is crisp and legible. Excellent condition like this commands a premium.
