Made from spun aluminum with a spring-loaded thumb-lever flip lid and internal baffle, this piece exemplifies durable wartime mess gear produced right on the cusp of US entry into WWII.

Maker / Origin
Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company (later famous for the Mirro brand) was founded in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and became one of America's primary metal fabricators. During WWII, the company shifted nearly all civilian cookware production to military contracts, manufacturing canteens, mess kits, and mess hall equipment for the Quartermaster Corps.
Condition & Value
Very good vintage condition. Shows light surface scuffs and minor handling marks typical of age and utilitarian use. The spring-action hinge and rivets remain intact and functional. Excellent condition for its age preserves strong collector appeal.
