Overview

A large-scale vertical diamond advertising sign featuring the iconic Goodyear 'Wingfoot' logo and bold yellow-on-blue porcelain enamel.

Story

In 1900, Goodyear founder Frank Seiberling was struck by a statue of the Roman god Mercury in his home, leading him to adopt the 'Wingfoot' as a symbol of speed and the messenger of a new era of travel.

Maker / Origin

Founded in 1898 in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear became the world's largest tire company by 1916, helping to put the world on wheels.

Condition & Value

The sign shows significant porcelain loss, heavy oxidation (rust) along the edges, and several punctures/bullet holes. While a mint-condition version of this sign could exceed $2,500, there is a robust market for 'distressed' petroliana.
