Overview

This is a massive, vibrant porcelain enamel advertising sign featuring the iconic Valvoline branding and the 'Best thing going for any car' slogan.

Story

Dr. John Ellis founded Valvoline in 1866 after discovering that crude oil had incredible lubricating properties for steam engines, effectively creating the first trademarked lubricant brand in the United States.

Maker / Origin

Valvoline is the oldest motor oil brand in America, predating the automobile itself by several decades.

Condition & Value

The sign appears to be in exceptional condition with a high-gloss finish and very minimal edge wear. Large-format porcelain signs in this high-grade condition are the 'blue chips' of petroliana collecting.
