Story
In 1900, the Fukagawa company stunned the world at the Paris International Exposition by winning the Gold Medal, proving that Japanese porcelain could rival the finest European houses like Sèvres or Meissen.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1894 by Ezaiemon Fukagawa, the company sought to elevate Arita porcelain—which had been produced in the region since 1616—into a global luxury brand.
Condition & Value
The porcelain appears bright and the cobalt glaze retains its high-gloss finish. Fukagawa Seiji is a highly collected name, though small sauce dishes are relatively common.
