Overview
A beautifully polished lapidary sphere showcasing the 'orbicular' or eye-like patterns unique to high-quality jasper.
Story
Deep along the remote northwest coast of Madagascar, this rare stone can often only be harvested during low tide, as the primary veins were discovered submerged beneath the Indian Ocean.
Maker / Origin
While the 'maker' is nature itself, the lapidary work is typically performed in artisanal workshops in Madagascar or specialized mineral cutting centers.
Condition & Value
The surface exhibits a high-gloss finish with a few natural surface pits or 'vugs' which are characteristic of the material. A visible natural fissure line is present but appears stable and does not detract from the display quality. Excellent condition for a natural mineral specimen.
