Story
On February 19, 1864, in the heat of the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln personally recommended the charter for the Knights of Pythias, believing its principles could help heal the wounds of a divided nation.
Maker / Origin
The 'Supreme Lodge' mark on the reverse indicates this was an official piece of regalia authorized by the order's highest governing body.
Condition & Value
The medal is in good vintage condition with the enamel on the shield appearing remarkably well-preserved. There is visible surface wear and light scratching on the reverse, consistent with being pinned to a uniform or suit jacket for many years. The original pin mechanism is intact, which is vital for value.
