Overview
A vibrant example of Venetian 'Millefiori' (thousand flowers) glass, featuring a dense mosaic of floral murrine canes fused and blown into a bulbous pitcher form.
Story
The technique used to create this piece dates back to ancient Rome, but it was the glassmakers of the Venetian island of Murano who resurrected and perfected it in the 19th century.
Maker / Origin
While many of these charming miniatures are unsigned, the specific color palette and cane structure are highly consistent with the Fratelli Toso workshop, founded in 1854.
Condition & Value
The piece appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips or 'flea bites' to the spout or the fragile handle. Value is driven by the complexity of the millefiori pattern and the condition of the delicate handle.
