Overview
A striking example of West German art pottery featuring a 'primitive' geometric motif in dark manganese oxide over a matte, speckled cream glaze.
Story
In the decades following World War II, West Germany became the global epicenter of experimental ceramics, a period now famously known as the 'Fat Lava' era.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1883 by Peter Dümler and Albert Breiden, this company was one of the leading producers during the West German pottery boom.
Condition & Value
The vase appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing. While not as rare as some 'Fat Lava' volcanic glazes, Dümler & Breiden geometric patterns have a dedicated following among Mid-Century Modern collectors.
