Overview

This is a definitive postage stamp featuring Dr. Sun Yat-sen that has been modified with multiple overprints to change its face value.

Story

In the chaotic years following World War II, the Chinese economy spiraled into one of the most extreme hyperinflationary periods in history.

Maker / Origin

The base stamp was produced by the Central Trust of China or the Dah Tung Book Co., but the 'maker' of its current form was the postal administration under the Nationalist (Kuomintang) government.

Condition & Value

The stamp appears to be unused (mint) but shows significant 'toning' or yellowing on the reverse side. While historically fascinating, these surcharged stamps were produced in massive quantities.
