This is a 6.5-inch tall sculptural representation of a champagne cork, crafted from natural and agglomerated cork. It features the iconic mushroom shape of a pressurized cork and bears a circular heat-branded…

Story

The Finger Lakes region of New York was once the undisputed 'Champagne Capital of America,' and this piece was a silent ambassador for that golden age.

Maker / Origin

The Pleasant Valley Wine Company, founded in 1860, holds the distinction of being the first bonded winery in the United States (U.S. Bonded Winery No. 1).

Condition & Value

The cork shows typical age-related pitting and some minor darkening, which is common for this organic material. The branding on the base is partially faded but remains legible, which is crucial for its value. Overall, it has a lovely 'patina' that proves its vintage status. Excellent condition for cork, which is prone to chipping.
