Overview

A classic mid-century educational board game designed to bridge the gap between early literacy and the complex strategy of standard Scrabble.

Story

By the mid-1970s, Scrabble had transitioned from a niche hobby for word-lovers into a global cultural phenomenon, and this Junior version was the gateway for a whole generation of 'Gen X' children.

Maker / Origin

Selchow & Righter was a titan of the American toy industry, famously acquiring the rights to Scrabble in 1952 after its creator, Alfred Butts, struggled for years to find a manufacturer.

Condition & Value

The box shows typical shelf wear and some minor scuffing on the edges consistent with its age. Value is driven by nostalgia and completeness; sets with all original tiles and the instruction manual in a crisp, non-crushed box fetch the higher end of the range.
