Overview

This is a magnificent example of American Carnival Glass, featuring a high-relief 'Iris' floral pattern pressed into deep amethyst glass.

Story

In 1908, the Fenton brothers launched a line of glass designed to mimic the incredibly expensive 'Favrile' glass produced by Louis Comfort Tiffany, but at a price accessible to the average household.

Maker / Origin

Founded in 1905, Fenton Art Glass became the most prolific manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States.

Condition & Value

The iridescence appears remarkably intact with no obvious 'rubbing' or loss of the metallic finish. Value is determined by the 'depth' of the iridescence and the base color; amethyst is a classic and desirable base.
