Overview
A classic wool serge 'Ike Jacket' uniform set, featuring the insignia of the U.S. Army Forces Western Pacific and the rank of Private First Class.
Story
In 1944, General Dwight D. Eisenhower grew tired of the 'sloppy' look of the standard long field jackets and commissioned a new design based on the British Battle Dress.
Maker / Origin
While produced by various textile contractors for the U.S. War Department, the 'Ike' jacket was a collaborative vision between the Army Quartermaster Corps and General Eisenhower.
Condition & Value
The wool appears to be in exceptional condition with no visible moth holes, which is the primary concern for garments of this age. Value is driven by the fact that this is a complete set (jacket and trousers) in seemingly excellent condition.
