In August 1979, this watch left the Suwa Seikosha factory in Japan during a decade when Seiko was fundamentally changing how the world kept time.

Founded in 1881 by Kintarō Hattori, Seiko rose from a small Tokyo clock shop to a global powerhouse that famously beat the Swiss at their own game in chronometry trials.
