Overview
A classic example of early 1900s travel literature in a publisher's decorative cloth binding, written by a titan of American letters.
Story
In 1906, as the world was beginning to move at the speed of the steam engine and the early automobile, Edward Everett Hale invited readers to do something radical: stay home and look closer. Hale was a giant of American culture, a former Chaplain of the U.S.
Maker / Origin
Edward Everett Hale was a prolific author and clergyman best known for his 1863 story 'The Man Without a Country,' which became a cornerstone of American patriotic literature.
Condition & Value
The book shows significant foxing (brown spotting) on the endpapers and a severely cracked inner hinge where the binding mesh is visible. While Hale is a significant historical figure, this specific title is relatively common.
