Overview
A sophisticated 'Anniversary Clock' featuring a torsion pendulum designed to run for a full year on a single winding.
Story
In the early 1900s, these clocks became the ultimate symbol of domestic stability, often given as wedding gifts with the tradition that they should only be wound once a year on the couple's anniversary.
Maker / Origin
Jahresuhrenfabrik (literally 'Year Clock Factory') was the firm of August Schatz, a pioneer who perfected the 400-day movement in the Black Forest region.
Condition & Value
The clock appears to be missing its protective glass dome, which is vital for keeping dust out of the delicate movement. Value is driven by the rare engine-turned dial and the desirable 'Elephant' JUF mark.
