Overview
A classic 'Anniversary Clock' featuring a four-ball torsion pendulum and a rare, stunning copper-toned guilloché dial.
Story
In the late 19th century, the clockmaking world was obsessed with the idea of a 'set it and forget it' timepiece, leading to the invention of the torsion pendulum.
Maker / Origin
August Schatz was a visionary who took an 1879 patent and turned it into a global empire under the name Jahresuhren-Fabrik (Year Clock Factory).
Condition & Value
The clock is missing its essential glass dome, which protects the delicate suspension wire from dust and air currents. While these are highly collectible, the value is currently tempered by the missing glass dome and the significant oxidation on the brass base.
