Overview

This is an original woodblock print by the legendary Joichi Hoshi, a master of the Sōsaku-hanga (creative print) movement.

Story

In 1977, just two years before his death, Joichi Hoshi was at the absolute zenith of his artistic powers, focusing on the spiritual connection between the earth and the cosmos.

Maker / Origin

Joichi Hoshi didn't begin his formal art career until he was 33, after returning to Japan from Taiwan following WWII.

Condition & Value

The print appears well-preserved within the matting, with the deep blues remaining vibrant and the metallic leaf intact. Joichi Hoshi's market is exceptionally strong, particularly for his late-period works from the 1970s.
