Overview
This is a premier example of the 1995 'Doubled Die' Lincoln Cent, a famous mint error where the design was engraved twice onto the die.
Story
In early 1995, a mechanical misalignment at the Philadelphia Mint created a small batch of pennies that would soon send the entire country into a treasure-hunting frenzy.
Maker / Origin
The Philadelphia Mint, established in 1792, is the oldest minting facility in the United States and is responsible for producing the majority of the nation's circulating coinage.
Condition & Value
The coin is preserved in an older ANACS 'white soapbox' holder, which is respected by collectors for its historical accuracy. The coin appears to have exceptional luster and no significant carbon spotting, which is critical for maintaining its 'Red' status. The holder itself shows minor shelf wear but remains structurally sound.
